MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ENERGY STORAGE: NEW GENERATION NANO BORON
In recent years, with the decrease in energy sources such as natural gas and coal, the need for renewable energy has increased, and accordingly, energy storage has become a very important technology. Using the energy obtained from natural and renewable resources such as wind, solar, and water effectively and efficiently depends on storing these energies.
Batteries and supercapacitors are used to store energy. Supercapacitors stand out because they charge and discharge very quickly and have a much higher energy storage capacity than batteries. For this purpose, SUNUM researchers have developed a nano-sized boron-containing material that increases the efficiency of energy storage systems. More efficient energy storage can be achieved with a lithium-ion battery and supercapacitor using this material. Another usage area of this developed material is smart textile applications. Smart textile is an emerging technology and can be defined as textile products that can detect and react to changes in the environment. Environmental change could be heat, temperature, pressure, sound, motion, etc. Temperature control has an important place in this technology. Thermal energy must be stored in order to produce clothing or bedding materials that adapt by sensing the temperature in the environment and the change in it and keep the person using the textile at the same temperature. For this purpose, it is aimed to increase the thermal comfort with the textile material that provides conductivity and energy storage by coating the textile fiber with the developed boron-containing material.
